Terms of Service

Dr. Signing is software: a public directory of notary signing agents in the United States, plus business tools for the notaries listed in it. That is the whole of it.

Dr. Signing is not a signing service, a notary agency, an employer or a staffing company. We do not assign work. We do not employ or contract the notaries in the directory. We are not a party to any agreement between a notary and a title company, escrow office, signing service or attorney, and we take no commission on one. We do not supervise notarial acts and we do not give legal advice about how to perform them.

What is available today: public profiles, directory search with a map, state and city pages, Pro subscriptions, manual credential verification, and automatic verification against state open data where a state publishes it. Signing orders, document exchange, the electronic journal, invoicing and expense tracking are planned and are not available yet. Nothing on this site is a promise that an unreleased feature will ship, or ship on any particular date.

The service is offered for use in the United States.

You need to be at least 18 years old to have an account. Sign-in is by one-time link sent to your email, so your account is only as secure as your inbox: keep control of it, and tell us at support@drsigning.com if you think someone else has access. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you.

One person, one profile. A commission number can be claimed by only one profile, which is enforced by the software.

Being listed is free, forever. A public profile in the directory costs nothing and we do not intend to charge for it. It is not a trial.

Pro is $59 per year, billed annually through Stripe, and adds the business tools described on the pricing page. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that may apply.

Title companies, escrow offices, signing services and closing attorneys pay nothing. Searching the directory and contacting notaries carries no per-order fee, no seat fee and no contract.

We may change prices. A change never applies to a term you have already paid for; it takes effect at your next renewal, and we will give you notice by email before that renewal so you can cancel first if you would rather not.

Pro renews automatically every year until you cancel. Your card is charged $59 on each anniversary of your subscription, at the price then in effect, without a further prompt.

To cancel, open Billing in your dashboard and use the customer portal, which is hosted by Stripe. You can cancel at any time, for any reason, without contacting us. Cancelling stops the next charge and leaves your Pro features running until the end of the period you already paid for; after that your account reverts to Free. Your public profile stays listed either way — that part is free.

If the portal is not working for you, email support@drsigning.com before your renewal date and we will cancel it by hand.

Pro is sold as an annual term and we do not offer prorated refunds for a term already started or for time left after you cancel. Two exceptions, and we mean them: if you were charged in error, or charged after cancelling, we refund it in full. And if you email support@drsigning.com within 14 days of your first Pro charge and tell us it was not what you expected, we will refund that first charge without an argument.

You are solely responsible for the accuracy of everything on your profile — your commission number and its expiration date, your E&O coverage and its expiration date, your background check, your certifications, your experience and your fees. You agree to keep them current and to correct them promptly when they change.

Publishing a credential you do not hold, or letting an expired one stand as though it were current, misleads a title company relying on this directory to hire a qualified notary. It is grounds for immediate removal, and depending on your state it may be a problem considerably larger than your account.

You are responsible for holding a valid commission, meeting your state's requirements, and performing notarial acts lawfully. Dr. Signing has no role in any of that.

A Verified badge means one specific thing: on the date shown, we checked a record and it matched. Either an administrator reviewed documentation by hand, or the software matched the commission number and name against a state's published register and confirmed that the contact email the state lists for that commission is the email on the account.

The badge is not, and should not be read as, any of the following:

• A guarantee that the commission is still in good standing. It reflects the state record as it stood when we looked, and states suspend, revoke and let commissions lapse without telling us.
• A statement about the notary's competence, professionalism, punctuality or the quality of their work. We have not observed any of it.
• Confirmation that E&O insurance, a background check or a certification is real or current. Those fields are self-reported and are not verified by the badge.
• An endorsement, a recommendation, or a referral.
• A background check, an identity check, or a substitute for either.

If you are hiring a notary, do your own diligence. Confirm the commission with the state, confirm the insurance with the carrier, and confirm anything else that matters to your closing. The badge is a starting point, not a conclusion.

We may grant, withhold or remove a badge at our discretion, and removing one is not a statement that anyone did anything wrong.

When a company finds a notary here and hires them, that engagement is entirely between the two of them. Dr. Signing is not a party to it, does not set the fee, does not guarantee the work will be performed, and does not guarantee that anyone will be paid.

Listing a profile does not guarantee that you will be found, contacted, hired or paid. We make no promise about how much work the directory will produce for you. Any dispute about a signing, a fee, a document or a payment is between the notary and the company; we may try to help informally, but we take no responsibility for the outcome.

You agree not to:

• Claim a commission, credential, certification or identity that is not yours, or create a profile for someone else without their authorization.
• Scrape, crawl at abusive rates, or bulk-harvest profiles or contact details from the directory — including for marketing lists.
• Use contact details found here to send unsolicited commercial email, texts or calls to notaries.
• Attempt to access another account, probe or interfere with the service's security, or get around the sign-in system or bot protection.
• Upload or link to anything unlawful, defamatory, harassing, deceptive or infringing, or to malware.
• Use the service to break any law, or any rule governing your notary commission.

You keep ownership of the text and images you put on your profile. By publishing them you give us permission to display, copy and distribute them for the purpose of operating and promoting the directory — which includes allowing search engines to index your public profile. That permission ends when you delete the content, subject to caches and archives we do not control.

You can stop using Dr. Signing whenever you like. Set your profile to Private to leave the directory, or email support@drsigning.com to delete your account outright, as described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms, misrepresents credentials, harms other users, or exposes us to legal risk. Where it is reasonable we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix it; where the risk to other users is immediate, we may act first and explain afterwards. If we terminate a paid account for reasons that are not your fault, we refund the unused part of the term.

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement.

In plainer words: we do not promise the site will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure against every attack, and we do not warrant that any profile, credential or piece of information in the directory is accurate, current or complete. Much of it is self-reported by the notaries themselves, and some of it comes from state records and mapping services we do not control.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dr. Signing and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill or data, arising out of or relating to your use of the service — whether the claim sounds in contract, tort or anything else, and even if we were told such damages were possible.

Our total liability for all claims relating to the service in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in that period, or one hundred US dollars.

Some states do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability for fraud or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your use of the service, your content, your credentials, your notarial acts, or your breach of these terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that is not resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you and we each consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Before filing anything, please email support@drsigning.com and describe the problem. Most disputes are a misunderstanding that a reply can fix, and we would rather fix it.

We may update these terms. When we do, the date at the top changes, and for a material change we will give notice by email or in the dashboard before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version; if you do not, cancel and close your account.

If a provision here is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Not enforcing a provision on one occasion does not waive it. You may not transfer this agreement without our consent; we may transfer it in connection with a sale or reorganization of the business. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between us about the service.
